Kristin Pelzer (B.A. Swarthmore, Ph.D. Cornell)
S.E.E.D. and O.L.L.I.
Long ago, at far away Cornell University, Kristin abandoned plans to write her thesis on 'The Romance of the Rose,' a medieval poet's guide to earthly enlightenment, transferred her NDEA fellowship to the Government department and produced a PhD thesis on Vietnam's political economy. Her Dante professor shook his head and warned her: "You know, that's not real." After a two-decade international career in university teaching (Austr alian National University, I.D.S. at the U. of Sussex, G.S.I.S at Denver U., Cornell U., U.H. Mānoa) and U.N. consulting (F.A.O, U.N.F.P.A., W.F.P.), she awoke to find herself in a dark wood and remembered her Dante professor's words. Therein lies a poem or two.
